Depart from the port of Kos to reach the Sanctuary dedicated to the Ancient Greek god of medicine, Asclepius built in the late 4th Century BC.
It served two purposes: a temple consecrated to Asclepius the God of health as well as a health & healing resort.
This is where Hippocrates, the father of medicine, practiced & developed many of the healing methods that are still used today.
The site is divided into three levels and enjoys a superb view over the Gulf of Kerameikos and the Middle Eastern coasts. You will visit part of the archaeological site, the foundations of the ancient gymnasium “Xysto”, the baths, the neo-Christian basilica, the “Nymphaion” and a Roman house with its beautiful mosaics representing the nine muses and the capture of Europe.

Then continue the visit in the narrow streets of the old town of Kos.
Passing through the ancient Agora, you will arrive at the place of the plane tree of Hippocrates author of the Hippocratic Oath. and presentation of the Castle of the Knights from the outside.
Return to the cruise ship.
